The Museum of HistoryMiami
The Museum of HistoryMiami gathers, interprets, and presents the history of Miami, FL and the greater South Florida region as a cultural crossroads of the Americas. Through exhibitions, collections, and publications, the museum offers the community meaningful ways to connect to the rich past and ever-evolving future of the region and its diverse inhabitants. Initially accredited by the American Alliance of Museums in 1979, The Museum of HistoryMiami has been subsequently accredited in 1987, 1997 and 2008, being one of only two history museums in Miami-Dade County to meet the rigorous professional standards required. In July 2011, HistoryMiami became part of the prestigious Smithsonian Institution Affiliations Program. This status provides opportunities to share resources in programming, collections, scholarship, and technical expertise – and entitles the museum to bring world-acclaimed Smithsonian exhibitions to South Florida.
